Medicine in India: Mass ill health hits Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh A mystery viral fever has claimed many lives in several districts of Uttar Pradesh. The other four districts that have been affected by the ‘mystery fever’ include Sitapur, Hardoi, Bahraich and Shahjahanpur. Medically, a person is not considered to have a significant fever until the temperature is above 100.4 F (38.0 C). However, what's normal for you may be a little higher or lower for others. According to Uttar Pradesh Director General of Health Services Padmakar Singh, the cause of the deaths is likely due to fever, malaria and typhoid. “Prima facie, it seems like these are cases of viral fever, typhoid and malaria. We are distributing medicines, organising camps and conducting mosquito-fogging drives. I am confident that we will be able to control this,” Padmakar Singh told Media.
