The wooden structure had been illegally erected in Coimbatore for MGR Centenary celebrations. K Ragupathi ran into the structure, fell down and died after a tipper truck ran over him. Hours after the news of the death broke in media, the words ‘Who Killed Ragu?’ were seen painted on the road at the spot of the accident. The holes on the road drilled in for holding the arch were also seen circled with white paint. It remains unclear as to who painted the road with the message. One of the ADMK cadres says he was drunked while getting hit on the wooden structure and police department also refuses to reveal the CCTV footage as well.
