A religious charity in Bangladesh has opened the nation’s first Islamic school for transgender people. Known as hijras, people in the transgender community are often deprived of a formal education in the country. Many end up begging, selling sex or dancing at weddings for a living. The school hopes to provide a chance for transgender people to enter into different professions.
