Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam said she still stands by trying to pass the controversial extradition bill that sparked months of social unrest in 2019 and polarised Hong Kong society, because she still believes the bill is necessary. Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Lam said if she had to do it over again, she would take a different approach, taking more time to “explain and engage” the public about the bill.
