영국-EU, 미래관계 협상 계속하기로…"합의 가능한지 볼 것"

The Brexit transition period before the UK leaves the EU is due to expire in just a few weeks.
But a post-Brexit deal still remains uncertain,... as once again no agreement was reached.

Kyung-eun, give us the details
Mok-yeon, the UK and EU have decided to take yet another extension,... to agree a post-Brexit trade deal.
Despite days of intensive talks,... the two sides failed to reach an agreement by the deadline on Sunday.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and EU president spoke over the phone,... after which they announced a joint statement,... saying that talks will continue.
"...after almost one year of negotiations and despite the fact that deadlines have been missed over and over, we both think that it is responsible at this point in time to go the extra mile."
However, both sides hinted at SOME degree of optimism,... that the talks have been constructive.
The EU's president also said,.. she will see whether they can reach an agreement even at this "late stage".
On the same day, Johnson said that the two sides are "apart on key things",... which include fisheries and fair trade regulations.
