Subtropical forests may have been on Tibetan Plateau 47 million years ago, Chinese scientists say

Chinese paleontologists said subtropical forests may have existed on the high-altitude Qinghai-Tibet Plateau about 47 million years ago. A team of scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a research institute in Beijing, China, studied more than 1,000 plant fossil specimens that researchers say are closely related to plantlife in today’s subtropical or tropical regions.
