Axar Patel took a five-wicket haul on debut as India defeated England by 317 runs in the second Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, levelling the series 1-1. It was indeed a test of character for the home team as they suffered a humiliating 227-run defeat in the first Test at the same venue. Local boy Ravi Ashwin was the stand-out performer of the game – scoring a century and taking eight wickets.
