Sri Lanka National Anthem (Instrumental) Sri Lanka Matha

Sri Lanka Matha ("Mother Sri Lanka") (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ලංකා මාතා, romanized: Śrī Laṁkā Mātā; Tamil: ஸ்ரீ லங்கா தாயே, romanized: Srī Laṅkā Tāyē) is the national anthem of Sri Lanka. It was originally titled "Namo Namo Matha" (Salute! Salute! Motherland).brSri Lanka Matha was first performed at an official ceremony (of the independence of Ceylon from the British rule) on 4 February 1949 at the Independence Memorial Hall in Torrington Square.brbrThere are differing accounts as to the origin of the "Sri Lanka Matha". The most widely held view is that Sri Lankan composer Ananda Samarakoon wrote the music and lyrics to the song inspiredinfluenced by Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.brbr(English Lyrics Translation)brThou Mother Lanka,brOh Mother Lanka we salute, salute, salute, salute Thee!brPlenteous in prosperity, Thou,brBeauteous in grace and love,brLaden with grain and luscious fruit,brAnd fragrant flowers of radiant hue,brGiver of life and all good things,brOur land of joy and victory,brReceive our grateful praise sublime, we worship, worship Thee.
