99 Peoplebr Unaccounted for, in Miami Residentialbr Building Collapse.br A 12-story beachfront condo building locatedbr north of Miami in Surfside, Florida, partially collapsedbr at around 1:30 AM on June 24.br The collapsed portionbr of Champlain Towersbr contained about 55 ofbr the building’s 130 units. .br The complex is occupied bybr both year-round and seasonalbr residents, so authorities br aren’t sure how many people br were in the building.br So far, search and rescuebr teams have pulled at leastbr 35 people from the wreckage.br One person is confirmed dead, althoughbr that number is expected to rise. .br Frank Rollason, director of Miami-Dade Emergency Management,br said they believe all survivors of the collapse have been found. .br According to Miami-Dade Police, therebr are a total of 99 people still unaccounted for. .br Crews were still searching the debris as of Thursdaybr afternoon and engineers have reportedly already begunbr investigating why the building collapsed. .br The building, built in 1981, was in the process of beingbr routinely inspected before its collapse.
