Tibetans in exile staged a protest against the Chinese Communist Party outside the Chinese Embassy in the national capital. Visuals that surfaced on social media showed the Tibetans donning placards and raising slogans against the Chinese Communist Party. In addition, the Tibetans were also seen donning the Tibetan flag masks. Some of the protesters present were raising slogans of 'Free Tibet'. However, authorities soon detained the protesters. The protests come ahead of the CCP's centenary celebrations. Meanwhile, President Xi Jinping hailed China's \"irreversible\" course from colonial humiliation to great-power status at the centenary celebrations for the Chinese Communist Party on July 1. His speech reached deep into history to remind patriots at home and rivals abroad of his nation's & his own ascendancy. Speaking above the giant portrait of Mao Zedong which dominates Tiananmen Square, from the podium where the famous chairman proclaimed the People's Republic of China in 1949, Xi said the "era of China being bullied is gone forever.” "The Chinese people will never allow any foreign forces to bully, oppress, or enslave us," Xi said in his speech, to great applause. The 100th anniversary celebrations on July 1 morning saw military jet fly-pasts, cannon salutes and patriotic songs played.
