The central government has taken an important step towards making India single-use plastic-free by next year. The Center on Thursday banned the use of 'single-use plastic items' with effect from July 1 next year, amid demands to tackle the menace of large-scale plastic waste across the country. Apart from this, the government has increased the thickness of polythene bags from 50 microns to 120 microns.
