In less than six months, Vijay Rupani has become the fourth BJP leader to resign from the post of the chief minister. Rupani resigned from the top post on Saturday after being in power for five years. His resignation as the chief minister comes 15 months before Gujarat goes to assembly polls in December 2022. Earlier, on July 3, Tirath Singh Rawat resigned as Uttarakhand's chief minister, less than six months from taking the oath. Tirath Singh Rawat was then sworn in as Uttarakhand's chief minister on March 10, replacing BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat. Tirath Singh Rawat was replaced by Pushkar Singh Dhami on July 4.
