The gates of the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala were opened for the two-month-long pilgrimage on Saturday. Hundreds of devotees from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and other neighbouring states performed pooja at the shrine located in a reserve forest of the Western Ghats in Pathanamthitta district of the state.
