Diwali has special significance in Hinduism. The five-day festival of Diwali begins with Dhanteras . Diwali is also known as Deepawali. Narak Chaturdashi is celebrated on Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi Tithi, just a day before Diwali. This day is also known as Choti Diwali, Roop Chaturdashi and Yama Deepawali. This year Chhoti Diwali will be celebrated on 3rd November. There is also a tradition of lighting a lamp in the evening on this day in the name of Yamraj, the god of death.
