Cricket is considered like a religion in India and in every second-third household, someone or the other aspires to become a cricketer. The main reason for this is the status and fame given to cricketers in India, which snatches everyone away. But hardly anyone has thought that he has to become an umpire in cricket. Perhaps this is the reason that in this country with a population of 140 crores, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has only 143 umpires. And now BCCI is facing shortage of umpires and new umpires are not being found.
