It’s our ‘intrinsic territory’, China says amid latest South China Sea dispute with Philippine

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin has reiterated Beijing’s claim to hold sovereignty over the Scarborough Shoal, known in China as Huangyan Island, and its surrounding waters.  Wang’s remarks on March 28, 2022, came as the Philippine Coast Guard accused China’s coastguard vessels of “close-distance manoeuvring” near the disputed area in the South China Sea, which both nations claim and Manila refers to it as Panatag Shoal.
