A fire department captain in the US state of Arizona has developed a bulletproof vest for children that is designed to protect them in a school shooting yet small enough to fit into student backpacks. His company, Escape Armour, also produces a shield that is described as capable of making any backpack bulletproof. In one of the deadliest school shootings so far in the United States, 19 children and two teachers were killed in Uvalde, Texas on May 24, 2022.
