Pope Francis on Monday expressed his condolences and closeness to the Cuban people for the fire and explosion at the Matanzas base. He did so through a message sent, on his behalf, by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin to the Bishop of Holguin and president of the Cuban Episcopal Conference, Emilio Aranguren Echeverrías.
