The international team at VFX Legion recently delivered over two dozen key shots for the first episode of the new NBC series, ‘Quantum Leap,’ creator Donald P. Bellisario's sequel to the 90s sci-fi cult classic. br br The series picks up 30 years after time-traveler Dr. Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and disappeared as a new team restarts the project. The story follows lead physicist Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) on an unsanctioned leap that transports him through time and space to a succession of locations as he navigates new challenges while trying to find his way back to the present.br br Legion, an end-to-end visual effects resource specializing in crafting meticulously detailed photo-real virtual locations, was brought on board to create a mix of complex digital environments integrating 2D and 3D assets across several episodes. br br A global company with studios in Los Angeles and British Columbia, Legion assembled a custom-tailored team drawing upon the meticulously vetted international pool of diverse talent the pioneering remote visual effects studio began building in 2013 - before opening its doors. br br Co-founders VFX supervisor James David and VFX producer Nate Smalley led the effort - reaching out to Eugen Olsen, an experience and technically innovative lead compositor based in Johannesburg, South Africa.br br Unreal Engine was the primary tool used for the job.
