In a rare announcement pertaining to a strategic platform, the government on Friday said that the navy successfully test-fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) in the Bay of Bengal from INS Arihant. INS Arihant is India's first indigenous nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, and demonstrates India’s nuclear deterrence capability.
