Akshata KC is an important part of the Trans and Dalit revolution in the state. She acknowledges that most trans-women, not unlike herself, have no choice but to rely on begging and sex work for survival, but she wants to change this. As the District President of Sanjeevini Sexual Minorities’ Forum, Akshata is bringing more and more Trans women into the mainstream. She is enabling Trans women to be self-employed and self-reliant. At the same time, she is not oblivious to the challenges in giving up sex work overnight for alternate employment.
