Altered Beats was ........ wellbr Altered Beats and I needed an appropriate venue tobr do it. Nasa Dance Pub on Queen Street West Close tobr Bathurst was absolutely perfect because it was abr Science Fiction themes bar directed at Retiredbr Ravers. So I started the night. Nasa had somewherebr between I think 4 to 6 TVs that were all connected tobr one VCR ( This was a long time ago ) ....Wait, I shouldbr back up a little bit. Upon creating Altered Beatsbr I had absolutely no desire to be a good DJ or abr successful DJ, Or to make friends or score girlsbr or even be a successful promoter. I just wanted abr venue and a night so I could harass the livingbr Shit out of' Torontos' two main 'Alternative Newspapersbr Now and Eye.br br br br br br br In order to direct attention to myself to thebr global electronic music scene so I could collaboratebr with Electronic Musicians. You need to bear in mind thatbr instead of going to school as a very young teenager, Ibr decided to hang out with ..... ummmm 'Rap' guys whobr pretty much all had the I.Q. of a Roof Shingle sobr I thought that the only way to make electronic musicbr was if you had a studio or access to a studio thatbr fucking costs $80 an hour or you had a home studio with thousands and thousandsbr and thousands of dollars of music gear. I did not knowbr that any acid head high school drop out moron withbr a Warez copy of Cubase can make Electronic Musicbr br br I wanted 'Visuals' for my night, so I asked thebr people at 'Suspect Video's Markham location if theybr could help me find a video editor. It was a guybr named Zack, who introduced me to a guy. Shortlybr After, I explained to the guy what I wanted andbr I sent a nice letter to the owner of Suspectbr Videos Markham Location and then me and thebr Guy were allowed to take out as many moviesbr as we wanted whenever we wanted, as long as theybr were not new releases. Like I was sayingbr Nasa, I think, has at least four TVs, all connected tobr one VCR but it might have been more like six TVs,br Maybe eight at the most. I don't remember.
