Chinese auto giant BYD last week launched the new premium Electric Vehicle brand YangWang U8 tasked with targeting top European automakers like BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.br br The new YangWang U8 enhances its off-road capabilities by combining a tough appearance with a quad motor arrangement and cutting-edge technology.br br At the launch event, Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, personally drove the car into the venue. In addition to the new SUV, the Yangwang brand also launched a driving technology known as ‘Yisifang,’ also known as the e4 platform, which will be used for the first time in the YangWang U8.br br For a total combined output of more than 1,100 horsepower (820 kW), the U8's two motors each provide 295-322 hp (220-240 kW) and 320-420 Nm (236-310 pounds-Foot) of torque.br br The huge and heavyweight SUV can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 kmh) in about three seconds because of the enormous combined power output.br br With an estimated starting price of around one million Yuan (around $145,000), the YangWang U8 is aimed to rival top-tier SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQG and the upcoming electric Land Rover Defender.br br In China, an internal combustion engine Mercedes G-Class starts from almost two million Yuan (around $275,000), double what the U8 is rumored to cost.br br Thank you #BYD br br What are your thoughts on this amazing electric SUV?
