Japanese highway swept by heavy snow blast during ‘once-in-a-decade’ cold snap

A powerful cold air mass moved into Japan on Tuesday, January 24, bringing heavy snow and strong winds to some areas, with whiteout conditions mostly in prefectures along the Sea of Japan.The Meteorological Agency forecast snowfall across the country and urged people to prepare for snow accumulation and cold temperatures. More than a hundred flights were canceled.
