The Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer is a collaboration between Honda Performance Development (HPD) and the North America Auto Design Division (NAAD) of American Honda. It features a 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged, electrified Honda V6 INDYCAR power unit and transmission, and runs on Shell's 100 renewable race fuel. The vehicle also incorporates world-leading Skeleton Supercapacitors and Empel MGU hybrid motor technology. The Hybrid Racer has a Chromoly steel tube chassis and a hybrid bodywork designed by NAAD, with a carbon-composite lower half and a standard production sixth-generation CR-V steel body from the beltline up.
