William Branham's Atomic Bomb Scare

William Branham's Atomic Bomb Scare

William Branham used the "Red Scare" bomb threat almost three hundred times during his recorded sermons. Frequently describing what he considered to be an inevitable threat from either a hydrogen bomb or atomic bomb, Branham warned his listeners that their time on earth was short. When speaking to an audience in Toledo, OH, for instance, Branham informed Toledo citizens that a bomb was going to drop on Toledo.br br The Second "Red Scare" began in 1947 with the tension created by President Harry Truman's Executive Order 9835, which required federal employees to take an oath of loyalty to the United States Government. The order was an attempt to weed out suspected communists but resulted in a battle against an invisible enemy. Tension accelerated quickly when the Soviets began testing nuclear weapons, leading to an arms race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Branham capitalized upon that fear.br br Branham's strategy based on fear is one that cult leader Jim Jones of Peoples Temple adopted. Jones was a pastor and evangelist in Branham's "Message" cult following in the mid-1950s and helped spread the message that the bomb was coming. Jones' son, Stephan Jones, recalls what it was like to be raised under this fear.br br You can learn this and more on william-branham.
