Tom Hiddleston has portrayed Loki in the MCU since 2011's Thor, and has had more development than most characters in the franchise. Phase 4 saw a variant of Loki learning the mysteries of the multiverse, and trying to get to the bottom of the TVA's strange and elusive creator, He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror. Loki season 2 was confirmed during season 1's post-credits scene, teasing his importance as a key player in the battle against Kang during the MCU's Phase 6.br br After his face-to-face with He Who Remains at the end of Loki season 1, Loki found himself sent to a version of the TVA no longer under the thumb of the fictional Time-Keepers, but instead seemingly ruled by a version of Kang. While Mobius seemed to have no memory of Loki, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's post-credits scenes revealed that the pair will embark on another adventure together, scouring history to learn more about Kang and his variants. Loki appears to be on a mission to save the multiverse, which is a vast departure from his original intentions in the MCU, and season 2 could see this expand even further.
