George Square. br br Teddy bear protest in George Square demands ceasefire to protect children of Gaza br  br Hundreds of parents, children and carers lay down cuddly toys in George Square, Glasgow, on Wednesday 1st November 2023 at 1pm. This was commemorate the over 3, 100 children who have been killed in Gaza by the IDF this month alone, supported by the UK government.br  br Parents for Palestine Glasgow bring together a grassroots static protest, to stand together with the Palestinian community, to express our utter heartbreak and devastation for the thousands of children’s lives lost, and extend our deepest solidarity to Palestinian parents and carers.br  br Hundreds pf carers and children joined this peaceful protest and vigil, designed to help make a space for the grief experienced by people and to remember and mark the lives of the children lost. We also express disgust to the UK government about their continued inaction. We demand that the UK government calls for a ceasefire, withdraws its support for Israeli war crimes andbr immediately ends arms sales to Israel.br  br The UK Government continues to back the bombardment and siege of Gaza - which devastates children’s lives:br  br - Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have killed more than 3, 100 Palestinian children - onebr child every 10 minutesbr - A further 5,000 children have been injured and 800 children are missing,br believed to be dead under the rubble.br - More than one million children in Gaza are in the line of fire, without access tobr water, food, medicines, and shelter.br - Threatened bombing of hospitals in Gaza, together with a telephone andbr internet blackout in Gaza from Saturday 28 October which has led to peoplebr within Gaza to be unable to communicate with the outside world.br  br The UK government has twice vetoed a UN resolution for a ceasefire.
