Martin Luther King is the son of Baptist minister Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King, a church organist. He has an older sister, Christine King Farris, and a younger brother, Albert Daniel Williams King. He was born at 501 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, in a house that has been preserved and transformed into a national museum, just a short distance from the Ebenezer Baptist Church where his father preached. Growing up in the segregated America of the time, he experienced a relatively privileged upbringing.
