Ingredients br br 4 - 6 slices French bread, sliced 1 12 thickbr 4-ounces cream cheese, softened br 2 heaping tablespoons powdered sugarbr 1 - 2 tablespoons strawberry jam or preserves br 1 eggbr 3 tablespoons buttermilkbr Dash of vanilla br 2 tablespoons butter for cookingbr br Directions br br In small bowl, stir together cream cheese, sugar and jam. Cut two inch pockets into bread. Place 1 tablespoon of cream cheese mixture into each slice of bread. br br In another bowl, whisk together egg, buttermilk and vanilla. br br Heat skillet on medium high heat. Add butter. Dip each piece of bread into egg mixture coating both sides. Place in hot skillet. Cook 2-3 minutes on each side until crisp and golden brown. Garnish with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
