Aerospace supplier Spirit AeroSystems announced plans to lay off over 400 employees in Kansas amid production issues at Boeing, one of its major clients. Boeing has faced issues, including a jet door blowing out and quality control problems uncovered by whistleblowers involving its 737 Max planes. The layoffs are meant to address a production slowdown on commercial programs at Spirit's Wichita plant. Whistleblowers have drawn scrutiny from regulators over Boeing's oversight and quality control.
