MIRZA GHALIB:br Mirza Beg Asadullah Khan also known as Mirza Ghalib was an Urdu and Persian poet of the 19th century Mughal and British era in the Indian Subcontinent. He was popularly known by the pen names Ghalib and Asad. His honorific was Dabir-ul-Mulk, Najm-ud-Daula. He is one of the most popular poets in Pakistan and India. He would belong to Delhi and was one of the close disciples of Ghalib. During the turbulent period of 1857, he was forced to move to Panipat and Alwar. However, his last days were quite peaceful. His deewan was published in 1898 under the pen name Mazhar Maa’ni. The language of his poetry has simple use of phraces, but sometimes it does get complicated. His poetry is mature, though not fresh and modern.
