The U.S. National Hurricane Center said in its 5 p.m. et advisory that hurricane Beryl's eyewall was "brushing the south coast of Jamaica'' on Wednesday, unleashing 140 mph winds along a path of expected destruction before heading west at a brisk pace toward The Cayman Islands.
