This sobriquet was given to him by bodybuilderwriter Rick Wayne. Wayne had begun calling Oliva "The Myth" because everyone who saw him at the 1967 Montreal World said he was an incredible massive bodybuilder, ripped, cut, massive, big arms, and a huge mass of muscle.
