Sunspot Pair: Erupted With 'Sympathetic Solar Flares'

When sunspots erupt at nearly the same time, it could be something known as "sympathetic solar flares." A double eruption from sunspots AR3614 and AR3615 may be an example of it. br br One of the flares was an X1-class flare and was captured in multiple wavelengths by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. br br Credit: Credit: Space.com | footage courtesy: NASA SDO and the AIA, EVE, and HMI science teams helioviewer.
