"No Need To Wait" | Horizon delivers hygiene infrastructure for schools in Malur | A CSR Initiative

An effective learning environment encompasses many elements: blackboards, desks, dedicated teachers, and ample resources. But there’s another critical component that is often overlooked—sanitary facilities. In many remote schools in India, especially in the interiors, the absence of proper toilets is a pressing issue. When toilets do exist, they are often tiny, damp, poorly lit rooms lacking essential sanitary fixtures. This situation disproportionately affects girl students, leading to higher dropout rates and forcing those who remain to endure discomfort that directly hampers their learning experience.br br When two schools in Malur, Karnataka, reached out to us about this challenge, we knew we had to act. We made the decision to upgrade their sanitary infrastructure by providing separate, well-maintained toilets for boys and girls. Teachers, parents, and students alike have reported a noticeable transformation in the school atmosphere following the construction of these facilities.br br With improved sanitation, teachers are now eager to expand hygiene programs within the schools, such as proper hand-washing techniques and sanitary education for adolescent girls. Students, too, are relieved to finally have access to private, clean spaces for their needs.br br This initiative not only promotes better health and hygiene but also fosters a more conducive learning environment. It’s a powerful reminder that the underpinnings of learning go beyond conventional resources.
