I'm Confessin' - December Band 1965

I’m Confessin’ – December Band 1965 br The original old fashioned New Orleans Jazz is being performed by four musicians from that town together with three young Americans and one Englishman. br This is the stuff you don’t hear much anymore today. Kid Thomas Valentine plays some basic lines on his trumpet with Jim Robinson trombone and with the underrated but wonderful alto saxophone of Capt. John Handy. The clarinet work is done by an young man just over from England. Sammy Rimmington is still playing today and maintains the style he learded in the fifties from New Orleans clarinetist George Lewis. The drummer is Sammy Penn, a true jazzman and his style of drumming is still being followed by many of today’s traditional styled drummers. The three Americans who complete the band and do a darn good job of fitting in the idion are pianist Bill Sinclair, banjoist Dick Griffith and dick McCarthy bass.
