A sinkhole has swallowed cars in a residential street today (271).br br Broughton Road in South Shields collapsed before 5:30am, Northumbria Police said.br br Several parked cars on the road entered the hole, although no-one is thought to have been injured.br br Nearby properties have been evacuated as a precautionary measure while the damage is assessed.
