Scientists genetically engineer 'woolly mice', in quest to bring back woolly mammothbr br In its quest to bring back the extinct woolly mammoth, a Texas bioengineering company has taken its first steps to genetically engineer the prehistoric creature by creating what it described as "woolly mice."br br They look like regular mice but with a long coat of hair, and were created by Dallas' Colossal Biosciences.br br We actually engineered mouse equivalent of mammoth genes that we've identified on our quest to bring back the mammoth into mice in a healthy way and produced what we believe is cold tolerant, woolly, phenotype driven mice," said Ben Lamm, Colossal Bioscience's CEO and Co-Founder, shortly after the company announced the breakthrough.
