Japan Plans To Deploy Long-Range Missiles To Protect Islands Close to Taiwan

Tokyo is planning to deploy long-range missiles in Kyushu to secure the southwestern Ryukyu Islands, which lie close to Taiwan. The aim is to ensure Japan's ability to respond to an emergency, such as a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. The surface-to-ship missiles are expected by March 2026, possibly to be deployed in Yufu and Kumamoto.
