United And JetBlue Announce NYC Alliance, Offering Shared Booking and Flight Slots at JFK and Newark

United Airlines and JetBlue Airways have launched a strategic partnership that will allow travelers to book flights and use loyalty points across both carriers, according to Bloomberg. The partnership will merge United and JetBlue’s operations in the New York City area, allowing United to resume flights at JFK Airport. JetBlue will gain access to preferred flight times at United’s Newark Liberty hub. The agreement helps United CEO Scott Kirby achieve his goal of regaining JFK access amid air traffic issues at Newark. JFK Airport has limited capacity, making takeoff and landing slots highly valuable and hard to secure. United exited JFK in 2022 after unsuccessful attempts to expand its presence at the busy international hub.
