Today’s video is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Serguei Kouchnerov, one of the most talented animators of modern age. Starting his animation career in 1983 at “Kyivnauchfilm”, he quickly rose ranks as studio’s finest animator for his unique draftsman abilities and good understanding of motion. His most famous contributions include “Treasure Island” (1988) and “Doctor Aybolit” (1985) by legendary David Cherkassky. At the time, he additionally debuted as a full-fledged director on such short films as "The Log" (1988), "The Muddle-Headed Wombat" (1990) and "9 12 minutes" (1992)br In 1993, he moved to the United States of America, where he later worked at such animation studios as Disney, Dreamworks and Illumination mostly as supervising animator and storyboard artist. br As you may notice, Kouchnerov is a very skilled and versatile animator, able to do both broad cartoony action in “Treasure Island” style, exciting background animation and more subtle and realistic character acting in “Road to El Dorado” and “The Prince of Egypt”. br I hope this reel will a worthy portrayal of Mr. Kouchnerov’s talent as a key animator and artist.br br All scenes are confirmed by Kouchnerov himself.
