In this video, we break down how these fuels are transforming India’s mobility and energy landscape in 2025. br br Ethanol:br India is rapidly approaching its E20 (20 ethanol blending in petrol) target, with blending rates reaching nearly 20 this year. This move is saving billions in oil imports, reducing CO₂ emissions by millions of tonnes, and boosting rural economies by creating demand for sugarcane and maize. Already, the program has saved over ₹1.44 lakh crore in foreign exchange a decade and replaced 245 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil while cutting emissions equivalent to planting 30 crore trees. The government is now eyeing higher blends like E30 by 2030 and exploring flex fuel vehicles for even greater impact. br br Natural Gas:br Natural gas CNG for vehicles, piped gas for homes, and fuel for industries is India’s other clean bridge. Its use is set to more than double by 2040, with city gas distribution becoming the largest demand driver. By 2030, natural gas could make up 15 of India’s energy mix (up from 7 today), helping the country transition smoothly towards its Net Zero by 2070 goal.
