Johnson & Johnson said Thursday it will invest $2 billion in North Carolina to expand U.S. manufacturing, according to Reuters. The move comes as Trump’s proposed drug import tariffs are pressuring global pharma firms. The company signed a 10-year deal with Fujifilm Diosynth for its 160,000-square-foot Holly Springs site, expected to create 120 jobs. J&J also plans further U.S. facilities and expansions in the coming months. The move follows its March pledge to raise U.S. investments by 25 to more than $55 billion over four years, including a new plant in Wilson, North Carolina. Other major drugmakers such as Eli Lilly and AstraZeneca have also boosted U.S. spending in response to Trump’s tariff threats.
