A month later, EP returned with his family, and I switched to a monotone, emotionless approach. I carefully ignored his requests for jokes while being friendly to others. When he noticed, he demanded to speak to a manager, claiming I was ignoring him. I reminded him of his previous complaint and the manager's discount offer.
