A total of 626 inmates nationwide will be released on licence in conjunction with the 68th National Day, said Prisons Department deputy commissioner-general (Community) Ahmad Faudzi Awang.br br Ahmad Faudzi on Thursday (Aug 28) said the recidivism rate under the Licensed Release of Prisoners (PBSL) programme remains low at 0.8, reflecting the success of rehabilitation and employer support, adding that the department is working with various ministries to expand job opportunities for ex-inmates and reduce reliance on foreign labour.br br One of the participants, known only as Michael, said he was determined to turn over a new leaf, calling his sentence a valuable lesson.
