Gorakhpur, UP: Panic gripped Jail Road in Shahpur on Wednesday night after a 30-year-old woman, Mamta Chauhan, was shot dead by her husband outside a photo studio around 8 p.m (03.09.2025) .br br Eyewitnesses said the accused, Vishwakarma Chauhan, arrived on a motorcycle, argued with Mamta, then pulled a country-made pistol from his helmet and fired. He reportedly stood near the body for 25 minutes, repeating, “I was troubled by her,” until police detained him.br br Locals rushed Mamta to Vinayak Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police confirmed the couple had been married for 15 years but separated for over a year due to property disputes.br br SHO Neeraj Rai said Vishwakarma is in custody and under interrogation. The killing has reignited debate on domestic violence and illegal firearms in Uttar Pradesh.
