In the gnostic texts of Nag Hammadi, we see a totally different description of Jesus. There, he is portrayed as a guide who opens access to spiritual understanding. He is not a real son of God, but according to the secret gospels, every human being is a Son of God.br br Jesus is rather a spiritual teacher, who raises the awareness of the people. He doesn’t insist to be a leader, he only shows the way. It’s a bit like Star Wars and the way of the Jedi. In the gnostic gospels, the “Living Jesus” speaks of illusion and enlightenment through self-knowledge. It is believed that when the disciple attains spiritual understanding, Jesus no longer serves as a spiritual master as the two have become equal.
