Descriptionbr br Ranikot Fort, also known as the Great Wall of Sindh, is one of the largest forts in the world, located in Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan. With a wall stretching nearly 32 kilometers, this fort is often referred to as the “Great Wall of Pakistan.” But the biggest mystery still remains – who actually built it, and why?br br Most archaeologists and researchers believe that the current structure of Ranikot, especially its walls and gates, was constructed or renovated during the Talpur dynasty (1780–1820). Carbon dating tests from the mortar of the Sann Gate also confirm its 18th–19th century origin.br br However, some local traditions and alternative theories claim that the fort may date back to much earlier times, possibly linked to the Saka, Parthian, Sassanian, or even Achaemenid Empires. Yet, no solid scientific or written evidence has been found to support these claims.br br The fort has four main gates, each with its own story:br br Shah Pir Gate (South): Named after a nearby sacred site, symbolizing protection and spirituality.br br Amri Gate (North): Connected to trade routes, used by caravans and merchants.br br Mohan Gate (West): A key entry point often targeted during attacks, heavily guarded.br br Sann Gate (East): The most famous and main entrance to the fort.br br br Despite centuries of weathering, storms, and invasions, Ranikot Fort still stands tall, a silent guardian of history.
