br After the day of protests on Wednesday, the Ministry of the Interior of France reported at least 675 arrests nationwide due to clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement. According to authorities, the people were detained in a procedure that allows confinement for up to 24 hours, but which may be prolonged upon review of the crimes in which they were involved. The reports also inform that during the day of protests the demonstrators carried out road blockades and destruction of facilities. The anti-government march involved some 200 thousand people supported by the leftist parties and unions in rejection of the economic policies.
